about

After spending 3 years playing in numerous bands and DJing in clubs, Nick Zavriev (known as one of Russian IDM pioneers) is back to his solo project Ambidextrous. The "Elephant Effect" is a successor to "Rocket Mind" album released on u-cover in 2007, but the new record is more about the energy from the 90s (old school IDM, drill & bass and rave) than 70s melancholy. Layered synths and space sequences known for Nick's previous releases are combined with acid basslines, distorted drums and glitchy breaks. Two tracks from the album, "Amadeus At The Disco" and "Interlagos" were part of "Ambidextrous Live Band" project, where Nick's electronic tracks were rearranged and performed live by 8-piece band. The "live" approach influenced the recording of "Elephant Effect" as well, with old gear like Ensoniq ASR-10, Roland Juno 106 and Korg Prophecy used as key instruments.

This album is distributed on a donation-based system (no minimum price!).
